AMC CEO Criticizes Robinhood's Stock Token Business
AMC CEO Adam Aron has once again criticized Robinhood's stock token business, questioning its fundamental principles regarding stock ownership. He raised several concerns to Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Chief Legal Officer Dan Gallagher, pointing out that Robinhood continues to heavily promote stock tokens on its U.S. website despite being unable to offer related products to American users. Aron also questioned whether stock tokens might mislead buyers into thinking they have the same rights as actual shareholders, as well as the effectiveness of its 1:1 stock support mechanism. He stated that if some of the underlying real stocks used to support the stock tokens are lent out to short sellers, whether the related tokens can still be considered truly 1:1 supported. Additionally, Aron criticized Robinhood for conducting related business through its Jersey entity, arguing that while stock tokens may represent innovation in Robinhood's view, they "only bring shame to Robinhood".
