BlockBeats News, January 30, The "Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act" (CLARITY Act) local time on Thursday passed the Senate Agriculture Committee, but the division between the Democratic and Republican parties has become increasingly severe. The final vote was 12-11, but the voting pattern showed a party-line split, with all Democrats voting against, focusing on the Trump family's involvement in cryptocurrency. The "CLARITY Act" will next be the subject of a hearing and deliberation by the Senate Banking Committee.

In addition, an amendment to restrict the Trump family from profiting through cryptocurrency was not passed at the meeting. Democratic Senator Michael Bennet said that this issue strikes at the core of our democracy. It is not related to cryptocurrency, not even specifically aimed at President Trump, but simply to return to the moral system that America deserves. The Trump family has currently made at least $1.4 billion from their cryptocurrency investments and holds a 20% stake in the mining company American Bitcoin.
