「Fed's Signal Booster」: Powell Opens Door to Rate Cut as Early as Next Month

BlockBeats News, August 22nd, The Wall Street Journal's renowned journalist and often referred to as the "Fed Whisperer" Nick Timiraos reported that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell opened the door on Friday to the possibility of a rate cut at next month's meeting, citing a more pronounced slowdown in the labor market, which could offset concerns about tariffs driving up costs and boosting inflation.
However, Powell's remarks, by emphasizing concerns about inflation, have tempered the market's expectations of aggressive consecutive rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. Inflation has been running above the Fed's 2% target for over four years.
