Glassnode Introduces Pay-Per-Call Model for AI On-Chain Data Access
Prefer us on GoogleGlassnode has introduced a pay-per-call model for its on-chain data service designed for AI agents. The AI agents can access data without the need for accounts, subscriptions, or API keys, and can pay using USD Coin (USDC). The price for metric calls is set at $0.05 per call, while metadata calls cost $0.01 each. Payments are processed on the base network. The x402 is an HTTP-based payment standard developed by Coinbase, where a server returns '402 Payment Required' when a paid resource is requested, and the client must attach a payment signature to make the request again. This integration changes the previous account creation and API key issuance process to a pay-per-call model. Glassnode provides an example of calling both the MVRV and price data of Bitcoin (BTC), with a total cost of $0.10 for two metric calls. The Linux Foundation announced the launch of the x402 Foundation's operations on July 14, with Coinbase contributing to the protocol. At the launch, there were 40 member companies, including Amazon Web Services, American Express, Circle, Google, and Visa.
