Korea Exchange Launches After-Hours Trading on September 14, Covering 2,651 Stocks
The Korea Exchange will launch after-hours trading starting September 14, with trading hours from 16:00 to 20:00 each trading day, covering 2,651 listed stocks on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets. This after-hours trading will introduce a market maker system to provide quotes and liquidity support for stocks with insufficient liquidity, marking the first time market makers are introduced in Korea's after-hours stock market. To enhance investor protection, market orders will be prohibited in after-hours trading, allowing only limit orders, best limit orders, and best market limit orders. Additionally, investment warnings, investment risks, management-related stocks, suspended stocks, and stocks that did not trade on the main market that day will be excluded from after-hours trading. Currently, the Korea alternative trading platform NXT has about 800 stocks available for trading, and with the introduction of after-hours trading, the range of stocks available for investors will significantly expand.
