COINOTAG News, May 15th – According to a recent report by Decrypt, ride-hailing giant Lyft has officially integrated the decentralized mapping service, Bee Maps , leveraging the Solana blockchain to enhance its street-level mapping capabilities. This strategic initiative commenced in 2024 and aims to fortify Lyft’s goals in navigation and autonomous vehicle technology. Bee Maps operates using the robust framework of the decentralized network Hivemapper , facilitating a unique cryptocurrency incentive model for contributors. Participants can submit street-level imagery captured by AI-enhanced dashcams and earn the native token HONEY as compensation. Ariel Seidman, co-founder and CEO of Bee Maps, emphasized that conventional mapping systems fall short in adapting to rapid real-world developments. He pointed out that to effectively implement mobility services and autonomous driving, a dynamic, crowdsourced, and real-time mapping infrastructure is essential.
