Nasdaq plans Q2 2027 launch of Nasdaq Equity Token with shareholder rights
Nasdaq is targeting a launch in the second quarter of 2027 for its Nasdaq Equity Token (NET), which will maintain full shareholder rights. NET aims to be a blockchain-based version of Nasdaq-listed shares, providing the same voting and legal rights as traditional stocks. Unlike existing tokenized stocks that are synthetic assets tracking share prices, issuing companies will retain control over shareholder registries and corporate governance. Nasdaq Ventures has invested 100 million dollars in Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, with Payward's xStocks platform expected to be the core infrastructure for NET distribution. NET will also support 24-hour trading and on-chain settlement.
