NVIDIA Holds Approximately $21 Billion in SpaceX Shares
NVIDIA recently disclosed that as of the end of the second quarter of this year, the value of its shares in SpaceX is approximately $21 billion. This stake comes from its investment in xAI, making NVIDIA one of the significant institutional shareholders of SpaceX. According to the disclosed figures, this SpaceX stake has become NVIDIA's second-largest holding, following its shares in Intel, which are valued at about $22 billion, down from around $30 billion at the end of the second quarter. FactSet data shows that NVIDIA is the sixth-largest investor in SpaceX, with Musk remaining the largest shareholder, holding shares valued at approximately $850 billion, while Alphabet ranks second with shares worth about $78 billion. The company disclosed that this equity was not acquired by NVIDIA directly purchasing SpaceX stock but rather through its investment in xAI, which provided related exposure. Following SpaceX's IPO completion in June, the book value of this stake was re-evaluated. SpaceX's IPO in June set a record, and in the two months following the listing, the stock price experienced significant volatility, with the value of major shareholders' holdings fluctuating noticeably with market changes. Beyond equity relations, the collaboration between the two parties on AI infrastructure is also deepening. Musk stated that SpaceX will exclusively use NVIDIA chips to build AI data centers, as NVIDIA's GPUs possess the "best architecture" for AI model training and inference, with related products and services becoming part of SpaceX's future AI strategy. Musk also mentioned that SpaceX expects to receive a substantial allocation of Vera Rubin GPUs next year, indicating that their collaboration has extended beyond financial investment to include the deployment of next-generation AI computing power.
