Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix Corporate Tax Payment Reaches 11.2083 Trillion Won in First Half, Up 167%
In the first half of this year, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix paid a total corporate tax of 11.2083 trillion won. This figure represents an increase of over 7 trillion won compared to 4.1906 trillion won during the same period last year, marking a growth rate of 167%. Samsung Electronics' corporate tax payment amounted to 3.9876 trillion won, while SK Hynix contributed 7.2207 trillion won. The corporate taxes of both companies reflect last year's performance, and there are expectations that annual corporate taxes may reach an all-time high due to improvements in the semiconductor market. Samsung Electronics' corporate tax increased by 256% from 1.1187 trillion won last year to 3.9876 trillion won this year, while SK Hynix's rose by 135% from 3.0719 trillion won to 7.2207 trillion won. Notably, SK Hynix's corporate tax for the first half of the year exceeded the previous record of 4.5264 trillion won set in the first half of 2019. For the first half of this year, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix reported operating profits of 146.7 trillion won and 98.2 trillion won, respectively, showing significant increases compared to the same period last year. The market anticipates that Samsung Electronics' annual operating profit will reach 385 trillion won, while SK Hynix's is expected to hit 266 trillion won. Consequently, there is a high likelihood that this year's corporate tax payments will continue to set new records.
