In early August 2026, Strategy sold 3,328 BTC at an average price slightly above $64,000, according to Saylor Tracker. Following this, Bitcoin experienced a sharp increase, but CEO Fong Le considers the sale a correct decision. In an interview with Bloomberg Television, he stated that capital management does not depend on Bitcoin's price fluctuations. He explained that the sale was intended to finance part of the dividend payments for their preferred instruments. After a 10-week pause, Strategy resumed purchases, acquiring 4,603 BTC at an average price of $80,318. The overall average cost for their portfolio stands at $75,678. At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at $76,500, indicating unrealized profits for Strategy's portfolio. Fong Le emphasized that their strategy is two-sided, allowing for both buying and selling of Bitcoin, which he believes is essential for a fully operational company. He also addressed concerns regarding MSCI benchmarks, as Strategy opposes the removal of cryptocurrency from indices.
