US Corporate Executives Sell Stocks at Near-Record Pace
US corporate executives are selling stocks at the second-fastest rate in over 20 years. In the first half of 2026, corporate insiders sold a total of $77.6 billion worth of stocks, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Only the sell-off in 2021 was larger. Data from EPFR Global Market Intelligence indicates that the trading behavior of insiders suggests a cautious outlook among corporate executives regarding the current market, with no strong inclination to increase their stock holdings. In the first half of 2026, corporate insiders bought only $6.9 billion worth of company stocks, slightly above the seven-year low of $6.7 billion recorded in the same period last year.
