Vitalik: Ethereum's mission is to connect the East and West communities, planning to achieve 10x scalability next year
BlockBeats News, September 13th, according to Bitcoin.com, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin took the stage at EthTokyo 2025 and delivered a speech, stating his strong belief that Layer 2 solutions are the future development direction of Ethereum. He further proposed an ambitious goal: Ethereum plans to achieve a 10x capacity increase next year, aiming to enhance network throughput and accessibility while maintaining decentralization and security.
Vitalik particularly emphasized the role of Asia. China developed an early PyEthereum client, volunteers translated the whitepaper and documents into multiple languages, and community efforts propelled Ethereum globally. He compared the development styles of China and Japan: Chinese projects progress rapidly on a large scale, while Japanese developers are more inclined to experiment with new technologies.
Looking ahead, Vitalik called for more researchers and application developers to join in and not rely solely on the core team. He encouraged Asian developers to focus on efficiency and security, believing that AI will become a key learning tool. New technologies often "reset" ecosystems, such as the breakthrough brought by zero-knowledge proofs. Vitalik predicted that the 2030s will usher in a new technological paradigm.
Vitalik reiterated that Ethereum's mission is to bridge the Eastern and Western communities. Regarding fundraising models, he believes that the global advantage of ICOs surpasses traditional VCs and proposed that the future should combine ICOs with DAO governance to create a more open and transparent funding mechanism.
