VTB Shares Fall to Historic Low on Moscow Exchange
VTB shares have hit a historic low, dropping to $0.59 (49.86 rubles) on the Moscow Exchange. Over the day, the stock lost 3%, declining 11% since the beginning of August and 45% since the start of the year. Compared to peak levels in 2015, the bank has lost 88% of its market capitalization, amounting to approximately $56.2 billion. VTB has assets of $418.6 billion and is valued at $7.7 billion (646 billion rubles). The situation is worsening due to liabilities to Wildberries and Ozon, which have been affected by drone attacks. Wildberries lost a third of its warehouse capacity, while Ozon's stock price dropped by 45%. The share of troubled assets at VTB has risen to 14.2%, exceeding the average level in the Russian banking system. The bank's net profit for the first half of 2026 decreased by 20% to $2.69 billion. The capital adequacy ratio fell to 10.7%, below the established minimum of 10%. VTB plans to lay off 10% of its head office staff.
