SpaceX's first earnings report has become one of the most anticipated events on Wall Street this summer, but whether it can attract investors to buy its continuously declining stock remains in doubt. As of Monday's close, SpaceX's stock price was $114.53, down about 15% from its IPO price and nearly 50% from its peak of June 16. The company's market value has evaporated by over $1 trillion. While the earnings report will provide investors with an opportunity to reassess the stock, SpaceX has yet to achieve profitability, and its business model is highly speculative; the report's results may raise more questions than answers. Portfolio manager Drew Cupps pointed out that there are too many aspects of the SpaceX story that belong to the future, with many things still incomplete, making it difficult for investors to feel secure. The current tangible achievements are few, and it is hard to determine a reasonable price now based solely on last year's performance.
