Beijing's First Case of AI Model Destruction Concluded in Second Trial, Engineer Sentenced to 5 Years and 10 Months

The second trial of Beijing's first criminal case involving the destruction of an artificial intelligence model has been concluded. Algorithm engineer Wang, on September 3, 2024, unlawfully logged into a decommissioned server cluster A and mistakenly deleted 89TB of core training data from the AI gaming department, resulting in the paralysis of the model training system and a halt in research and development. Wang's actions constituted the crime of damaging computer information systems, leading to a sentence of five years and ten months in prison, along with a compensation of 204,000 yuan for the company's economic losses.
