Agroindustry urges Pablo Quirno to advance Mercosur-EU agreement and open markets in Asia
The agroindustry seeks to expand its presence in international markets, focusing on Asia and the European Union. During a meeting with Chancellor Pablo Quirno, representatives from the Grain Exchange discussed the international agenda of the sector and opportunities to enhance Argentina's integration into global trade. The importance of moving towards a more integrated Argentina and implementing the Mercosur-EU agreement was emphasized, paying attention to new environmental and sanitary requirements to avoid unjustified trade barriers. One key point was the need to increase Argentina's presence in markets with high food demand, such as India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and South Korea. The search for new markets is crucial at a time of export recovery, with the Argentine agro-industrial complex accumulating 31.952 billion dollars in exports between January and July 2026. The Grain Exchange also advocated for a more dynamic Mercosur with greater capacity to engage commercially with the rest of the world. The sector's agenda focuses on two objectives: opening new markets, especially in Asia, and improving Mercosur's capacity to negotiate trade agreements with third countries. The meeting included Ricardo Marra, head of the Grain Exchange, and representatives from the INAI-Grain Exchange Foundation.
