The trading activity of crypto assets in Indonesia has shown growth once again. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that the value of crypto asset transactions reached Rp28.58 trillion in June 2026, an increase of 24.2 percent compared to the previous month.
This increase indicates that investor activity in the domestic digital asset market remains quite strong despite various uncertainties in the global market. In May 2026, the value of crypto transactions was recorded at Rp23.01 trillion.
According to OJK data, the value of crypto asset transactions increased by approximately Rp5.57 trillion in just one month.
In May 2026, transactions were recorded at Rp23.01 trillion. This figure then rose to Rp28.58 trillion in June.
The monthly growth of 24.2 percent indicates that trading activity in digital assets has seen an uptick. This condition also reflects the sustained interest of the public in crypto instruments amid the dynamics of the global financial market.
The Head of the Financial Technology Sector Innovation Supervisory, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets at OJK, Adi Budiarso, presented this data during a press conference following the Monthly Commissioner Board Meeting of OJK on August 4, 2026.
The growth in transactions is also in line with the increasing number of consumers trading digital financial assets and crypto assets.
OJK recorded the number of consumers reaching 22.69 million in June 2026. This figure indicates a broader participation of the public in the digital financial asset ecosystem in Indonesia.
The large number of consumers is one of the important indicators for the development of the national crypto industry. Besides showing a large user base, the growth of consumers can also drive increased trading activity on digital asset platforms.
OJK assesses that consumer confidence in Indonesia's digital financial asset ecosystem remains well maintained despite ongoing global uncertainties.
In addition to trading crypto assets, activity in digital financial asset derivative instruments has also seen an increase.
The value of derivative transactions was recorded at Rp4.19 trillion in June 2026, up 3.7 percent compared to Rp4.04 trillion in May.
This growth indicates that digital asset market activities are not only taking place through direct cryptocurrency transactions. Derivative products are also starting to become part of the development of the digital financial asset ecosystem in Indonesia.
The increasing activity in both segments serves as an indicator that the domestic digital asset market is developing and has a wider variety of instruments.
Crypto Market Capitalization Recorded at Rp20.14 Trillion
The OJK also recorded the cryptocurrency market capitalization at Rp20.14 trillion in June 2026.
Market capitalization is one of the indicators that reflects the overall value of cryptocurrencies circulating in the market. Its movement can be influenced by changes in cryptocurrency prices as well as trading activities.
With increasing transaction values and the number of consumers reaching tens of millions, the development of Indonesia's digital asset industry shows that the crypto market still has a substantial activity base.
OJK Prepares Crypto Industry Roadmap 2026-2031
The growth of crypto transactions is also accompanied by OJK's steps to strengthen regulations and develop the digital financial asset industry.
OJK, together with the Indonesian Blockchain Association, previously held a national symposium and consultation forum on July 2, 2026. This event involved Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives and various stakeholders.
The feedback obtained from this event will be used in the preparation of the OJK Technology Innovation Roadmap for the Financial Sector, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets (IAKD) for the period 2026-2031.
Tokenization and Stablecoins Become Focus
In the future development of the industry, OJK is paying attention to several new areas in the digital asset sector.
Some of these include asset tokenization, stablecoins, taxation of digital financial assets, cybersecurity, and over-the-counter (OTC) transactions.
The development of blockchain technology has made asset tokenization one of the topics increasingly observed by regulators and industry players. Meanwhile, stablecoins have also become an important part of the digital asset ecosystem as they are designed to have a relatively stable value against certain reference assets.
OJK also sees cybersecurity aspects as important as the use of digital asset services in Indonesia becomes more widespread.
OJK Encourages Single Investor Identifier for Crypto
Another plan being developed is the implementation of a single investor identifier (SID) for the digital financial asset and cryptocurrency sector.
This concept is expected to help strengthen investor identification and support the development of a more integrated digital asset market ecosystem.
Strengthening investor identity can also be part of efforts to improve governance and consumer protection as the number of people engaging in the digital asset market increases.
Market Growth Accompanies Strengthening Regulations
The growth of transactions to IDR 28.58 trillion in June indicates that Indonesia's crypto industry still has quite strong activity.
On the other hand, this development has made the need for regulation, security, transparency, and consumer protection increasingly important. With the number of consumers reaching 22.69 million, the management of the digital asset ecosystem is no longer just related to trading activities but also concerns the interests of the public on a larger scale.
The OJK, through the IAKD 2026-2031 roadmap, is striving to build an industry development framework that can keep pace with technological advancements while maintaining stability and consumer trust.
The value of crypto asset transactions in Indonesia reached IDR 28.58 trillion in June 2026, an increase of 24.2 percent compared to IDR 23.01 trillion in May.
During the same period, the number of consumers trading digital financial assets and crypto assets reached 22.69 million, while the market capitalization of crypto assets was recorded at IDR 20.14 trillion. Transactions in digital financial asset derivatives also increased to IDR 4.19 trillion.
This growth indicates that the activity of Indonesia's digital asset market still has positive momentum. However, as the industry expands, strengthening regulation and consumer protection becomes increasingly important.
The OJK is now preparing the IAKD 2026-2031 roadmap with several focuses, including asset tokenization, stablecoins, cybersecurity, taxation, OTC transactions, and the development of a single investor identifier for digital and crypto asset investors.
