Wage Jobs Increase by 292,000, 80% Among Those Aged 60 and Over
In the first quarter of this year, the number of wage jobs in the country increased by 292,000 compared to a year ago. Of this increase, 80% occurred among those aged 60 and over, while jobs for those under 20 and in their 40s decreased. According to the National Data Agency, as of February, there were 20,828,000 wage jobs, marking a 1.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Jobs for those aged 60 and over increased by 233,000, with 93,000 in the health and social welfare sector and 27,000 in manufacturing. Jobs for those in their 30s increased by 115,000, and those in their 50s by 40,000, while jobs for those under 20 decreased by 76,000. By industry, health and social welfare jobs saw the largest increase at 127,000, followed by accommodation and food services with 59,000, and professional, scientific, and technical services with 37,000. In contrast, construction jobs decreased by 52,000. Among all wage jobs, sustainable jobs accounted for 15,416,000, or 74.0%, and jobs for women increased by 217,000, nearly three times that of men. The statistics highlight a significant increase in jobs for the elderly and in the health and social welfare sector, while a notable decrease is observed among the youth and in certain industries.
